Watch: ENEROC Lithium Industrial Batteries Smart Factory Manufacturing and Testing
This three-minute video walks through the design of ENEROC lithium iron phosphate (LFP) forklift batteries. It covers the cells inside each pack, the battery management system, cycle life, charging, and remote monitoring. The last section shows environmental and mechanical testing.
CATL lithium iron phosphate cells
Every ENEROC pack is built with LFP cells from CATL. LFP has higher thermal stability than nickel-based lithium-ion chemistries such as NMC. It is less prone to thermal runaway, including at high ambient temperatures. The video shows CATL's automated cell and module production lines.
Battery management system developed by ENEROC
ENEROC designs its own battery management system (BMS). The BMS reports the status of each cell in real time. It corrects the state-of-charge (SOC) reading dynamically as the battery works. It also raises fault alarms and keeps a diagnostic record for traceability.
The BMS communicates with the truck over CAN bus. It balances cells, manages charge and discharge, and controls temperature. Depending on the configuration, the pack can also include an onboard charger, a heating pad for cold environments, a built-in fire extinguisher, a display, and REMA or Anderson connectors.
Cycle life
ENEROC rates its forklift batteries at more than 4,000 cycles. At one full cycle per day, 4,000 cycles is more than 12 years of operation. That is long enough for a single pack to cover the service life of most forklifts.
Fast opportunity charging
The batteries accept charge at 0.5C, which means the charging current equals half the battery's amp-hour capacity: 300 A for a 600 Ah pack, for example. At that rate, a full charge takes as little as 2 hours. Actual time depends on the charger's output.
Operators can top up the battery during lunch and shift breaks. This is opportunity charging, and it does not shorten LFP battery life. In multi-shift operations, lead-acid trucks usually need a long charge and a spare battery swapped in between shifts. An ENEROC battery can stay in the truck.
Optional 4G module for remote monitoring
With the optional 4G module, fleet managers can see each battery's operating status in real time from a web dashboard. The system also sends early warnings when a battery needs attention.
Testing under extreme conditions
The final section of the video shows testing on an ENEROC battery. The pack goes through high-temperature, water spray, vibration, drop and low-temperature tests.
